Description:

Salvia Farinacea, or mealycup sage, is an ornamental member of the mint family growing up to three feet in height.  Native to Mexico and Texas, it grows in average soil and is fairly tolerant of drought.  In zones 8-10 it is considered a perennial and can survive light frosts.  It is an annual elsewhere.  The plant is valued for stunning blue flower spikes that bloom continuously throughout the growing season.

Growing Information:

Seeds can be started indoors eight weeks before the last frost or sown directly outside in the spring after danger of frost has passed.  Sow seed on the surface of the soil and press in.  Keep the soil consistently moist until the plants are about 6”.
